Environmental Care

An integral part of our mission is caring for God’s creation and, as such, we believe human-made climate change poses a serious threat to the flourishing of God’s creation and that there are fundamental issues of justice involved in the choices all of us make day-to-day.

During the month of September, we celebrate the Season of Creation which is as an annual time of prayer, education, and action. During the Season of Creation, we join our sisters and brothers in the ecumenical family in prayer and action for our common home. The momentum continues long after the season ends though through ongoing prayer, individual acts to encompass changes in our lifestyle, and positive advocacy for the environment. As Rebekah Simon-Peter, in her book, Green Church, stated “After all, the Bible calls us to communal action in the matter of stewardship. We must work together on a large scale.”
